MTMS Media Center

Dear Mountain Trail Families,

Welcome to the 2022-23 school year! We are so excited to have everyone back on campus.

If you have a student that is currently at home, you can still check out a book - an ebook. I would like to advertise our ebook collection at MTMS. Destiny Discover is our school library resource for all books, ebooks and other digital material. You can see available ebooks and download them to any electronic device using the Destiny Discover website or app.

Sincerely,

Mr. Jones

Library Media Center Information for Students

Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Before school, during lunch, after school, and during Study Hall.)

The Library Media Center will be open for students to:

  • Read.

  • Study.

  • Complete homework at the tables.

  • Print out assignments/projects.

  • Troubleshoot a Chromebook or obtain a loaner for the day.

We are open for the students during the following times:

  • Before School - Library Media Center opens up at 8:30 a.m.

  • During Lunch - No food or drink is allowed in the Library Media Center.

  • After School - Library Media Center will close around 4:00 p.m., except on Early Release days, which will be 1:00 p.m.

Library Procedures: Upon entering the library, all students must place their backpack in a shelf at the entrance. Students should remove all necessary materials such as paper, pencil/pen, book(s), etc. Remember: Food, drinks, and loud talking are not permitted.

Checking Out Books: The easiest way to find a book is to use the Destiny Discovery website. A student may check out two (2) books per loan period. No books may be checked out if the student has an overdue book or an outstanding bill on a lost or damaged book. Books should be returned to the library as soon as the student has finished using the book. A valid Mountain Trail ID must be presented in order to check out a book.

Loan Period: The loan period for general circulation is two (2) weeks.

Renewals: There is one renewal per book unless the book has been placed on hold by another student. There are no renewals on overdue books.

Reference Books: For library use only, no checkouts permitted.

Overdue Notices: These are emailed to the student and parents and/or guardians every Sunday. Severe overdue notices (more than 60 days overdue) will require the student to serve lunch detention in the Media Center until the book(s) are returned or paid for.

Lost and/or Damaged Books: If the book cannot be found or repaired, the student will be billed for the replacement cost and the student will not be able to check out further books until their account is clear. At the time of check-out, the student must check the book for any previous damage that has not be documented. Do not “dog-ear” pages; use a bookmark!

Behavior: There is no loud talking in the library. Students with inappropriate behavior or computer use will lose the privilege of using the library for a specific length of time depending on the severity of the infraction.
